Event Details

For more than 40 years, it has been a challenge to combine quantum mechanics and general relativity within the black hole information paradox. Recently, there has been a proposal for the Page curve of Hawking radiation in 2d Jackiw-Teitelboim gravity coupled to matter. Here, we show a direct derivation for this proposal by constructing a new saddle for the gravitational path integral. This saddle appears in the replica method for computing the fine-grained entropy as a connected wormhole geometry. By including these replica wormholes, we showed that the Page curve for radiation is consistent with unitarity.
