Event Details

Five-dimensional superconformal field theories (5d SCFTs) provide strongly-coupled UV fixed points for perturbatively non-renormalizable gauge theories and exhibit many interesting features. There is no standard Lagrangian description but the theories can be studied indirectly using field theory methods and string theory. A particularly fruitful approach is to construct them via 5-brane intersections in type IIB string theory. In this talk I will describe the construction of warped AdS_6 solutions in type IIB supergravity that can be identified with fully localized 5-brane intersections and provide holographic duals for 5d SCFTs.
