Event Details

In recent years a new class of quantum phases of matter have been (theoretically) discovered. These are the `fracton' phases and they support a phenomenology unlike anything we have seen before. In this talk I will introduce the basic properties of fracton phases, and how they may be understood. I will also survey some of the rich dynamic and thermodynamic behaviors supported by fracton phases, and discuss some of the (many) important open questions.
