Kappa symmetry and diffeomorphism invariance are gauge symmetries of the Green Schwarz string as well as of the Siegel string. Via the Poisson bracket the corresponding constraints generate a classical first-class algebra which is known as the Siegel algebra and is lacking an anomaly free quantum version since 1986. In this talk Dr. Guttenberg will discuss its quantum-anomalies in the absence ofghost-fields and then present a way to cancel them within Berkovits’pure spinor formalism, observing a rich algebraic structure. This should improve the understanding of the role of kappa-symmetry in the pure spinor string on the one side and the understanding of the covariant quantization of the Green-Schwarz string on the other side.
