I will clarify analytic properties of the S-matrix of c=1 string theory from the worldsheet perspective at tree and loop levels, and discuss some recent computations based on generalized recursion relations for Virasoro conformal blocks that result in a matching of a genus one string amplitude with predictions of the matrix model known from the early 90s.
