John R. Blocker Building

This building was dedicated in 1983 and named in honor of John R. Blocker, a member of the class of 45, and former member of The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. Blocker continued to lead as a Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Blocker Energy Corporation, the fifteenth largest contract drilling company in the world. Later, Blocker also founded the President’s Endowed Scholarship and the Twelfth Man Scholarship.

With its number of lecture halls, classrooms, and labs, the Blocker building is a workhorse for teaching and study at Texas A&M University. The first floor welcomes the building’s constant flow of visitors with a snack bar, vending machines, and an open-access lab available to all students. The remainder of the building is divided among various divisions of the departments.
