Event Details

In this talk, I will give an overview of recent work on higher-derivative contributions to correlation functions of local operators in N=4 super-Yang-Mills theory at large N.  The methods used involve analytic bootstrap, supersymmetric localization, and comparison with scattering amplitudes of gravitons and their superpartners in flat space type IIB superstring theory.  If there is time, I will also mention ongoing work on using similar ideas to study a two-point function of local operators in the presence of a line defect.  When the defect is a 1/2-BPS ’t Hooft line, this two-point function is expected to be related to the scattering of a graviton (or superpartner) from a D1-brane, and it can be used to extract new information about higher-derivative interactions in the D1-brane effective action.
