SuperCDMS SNOLAB Dark Matter Experiment and Tritium as the Dominant Background

Speaker:

John Orrell (Pacific Northwest National Lab)

Location:

Address:

Mitchell Institute for Fundamental Physics & Astronomy

College Station, Texas 77843

Event Details

In this presentation I will present the evidence for particulate dark matter and then drill down into a detailed look at one of the main background challenges - tritium - for the SuperCDMS SNOLAB dark matter experiment, part of the suite of Generation-2 direct detection experiments. The goal of the presentation is to connect the dots between uncertainties and challenges associated with predicting, mitigating, and independently measuring a specific background (tritium) to the experimental challenge of searching for low mass dark matter.
