Single Top Quark Production at the Fermilab Tevatron

Event Details

According to the standard model of particle physics, the heaviest quark, the top quark, is predominantly produced in pair. The production of a single top quark associated with jets is small and it is proportional to the Vtb value of the CKM (Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa) matrix. Recent single top quark analyses using data collected by the CDF experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron will be reported. The first observation of single-top-quark production in the s-channel through the combination of CDF and D0 measurements will be presented.
