Many astronomers think the only career options for an astronomy PhD are in academia or industry, but an often overlooked third option is working in the public sector. In this talk, I will discuss what I do at the Office of Management and Budget, how I transitioned from studying AGNs to studying the budget of the National Science Foundation, and other roles that scientists serve in the Federal government.
