Physics of Ultra-Fast Fiber Lasers, a Key to Unlock Life Science Mysteries

Advanced imaging techniques have propelled knowledge in life sciences. In this seminar I will present how ultra-fast lasers are used to facilitate big leaps forward in the abilities to see deeper into tissue, to resolve more details and to follow faster processes. However, many advanced imaging techniques currently require the use of rather complex laser systems that can only be operated by specialized personnel. Ultrafast fiber laser technology has promised for decades to offer robust turn-key alternatives that enable the use of these advanced imaging techniques by any researcher. I will show how it is now within reach that fiber laser technology can deliver on this promise.
