Conformal field theories (CFTs) form a basis for the space of quantum field theories (QFTs). An important goal toward understanding QFTs, in general, is to have a classification for CFTs. String theory implies that the typical CFT is strongly coupled and isolate, and may not admit a Lagrangian description. Alternate methods and classification schemes are necessary in order to study CFTs in general. In this talk, I will discuss a scheme where SCFTs (supersymmetric CFTs) are define by geometries and discuss how they can be studied and classified by using AdS/CFT.
