Development of Low Threshold Silicon Sensors for the Detection of Coherent Elastic Neutrino-Nucleus Scattering (CENNS) of Reactor Neutrinos

Speaker:

Juan Estrada (Fermilab)

Location:

Address:

Mitchell Institute for Fundamental Physics & Astronomy

College Station, Texas 77843

Event Details

I will discuss the current status of the CONNIE experiment, using CCDs to look for CENNS in at nuclear reactor in Brazil. The performance of the detector, and the operations of the experiment will be discussed, showing the science potential of the existing apparatus. The future development plans for this technology will also be discussed, including the R&D on the skipper-CCD. This new sensors have recently been demonstrated in the lab and are now producing exiting results for DM searches.
