I will review my recent approach to the study of SO(2,1) scaling anomalies and its impact in the thermodynamics of lower-dimensional ultracold fermionic gases and the relationship between 1D, 3-species systems and 2D, 2-species systems. Some comments about recent results will be made. The emphasis will be pedagogical more than technical.
