One of the surprising elements in recent studies of 6D SCFTs is the appearance of “6D conformal matter,” a generalization of weakly coupled hypermultiplets described by a strongly coupled theory. In this talk we discuss how upon compactification to four dimensions, the resulting 4D conformal matter can be used as building blocks in the construction of a new class of 4D quantum field theories. In particular, we obtain generalizations of SQCD-like theories both in the conformal and confining phase, as well as more general quiver-like gauge theories. The realization in F-theory of these 4D models elucidates the structure of these theories and also points to quantum corrections to classical geometry.
