I am a born and raised Texan, and I am half Filipina and half white. I have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics with a minor in Astronomy from Texas A&M University-Commerce. I love to read books, spend time outdoors with Heath (human partner) and Beans (doggie), watch interesting TV, photograph special moments, travel, and expand my horizons. I believe that the world is a better place when people act selflessly!
I am currently an Astronomy PhD graduate student. My past undergraduate research experience consists of some Mathematics (specifically complex analysis), some Acoustics (designing a recording studio), and a little bit of Astronomy (carbon atmosphere white dwarfs). I am currently working with Dr. Peter Brown and Dr. Nicholas Suntzeff for my graduate research. I look at the UVOT (Ultraviolet/Optical Telescope) Grism spectra of Type II supernovae!

Moonzarin is a second year astronomy graduate student. She works with Yuanyuan Zhang and Louis Strigari on constraining the fundamental cosmological parameters using novel machine learning techniques. She is interested in using data from cosmic surveys to determine the role of dark matter in galaxy formation and evolution. In the past, she has worked on morphological classification of galaxies and photometric redshift estimation using various machine learning algorithms. She received her BSc in EEE from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2019.

I received a B.S. in Physics from Trinity University (2012), followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from Rice University (2017 and 2020), where I studied the dynamics of quantum spin systems far from equilibrium by developing and using several computational techniques. I came to TAMU's Applied Physics program and IQSE to study and research in the fields of quantum optics and laser physics, and to gain expertise in experimental physics.
