How Can We Help?

Construction Assistance: The Physics Electronics Shop staff can help you build your own electronics equipment. We have a stock of common (and some uncommon) electronics parts available, including resistors, capacitors, rectifiers, transistors, ICs, connectors, cable, and more.

Design: The Electronics Shop can design analog and digital electronic instruments for research or instructional purposes. We utilize a variety of CAD and printed circuit board design software, including Altium and P-Spice. We will also offer a limited amount of design software consulting.

Fabrication: We can fabricate simple electronic instruments or entire data collection systems. Fabrication capabilities include analog and digital circuits, custom computer interfaces, data acquisition systems, DSP, NIMs, and surface mount. Designs can be submitted in person or electronically. We can do layout, and deliver prototype boards quickly.

Inspection & Repair: The Physics Electronics Shop is capable of inspecting and repairing research and instructional electronics on or off site. A schematic or manual is desirable when requesting repair services.

Parts Store: The Electronics Shop houses a self-service parts store with an inventory of more than 7000 items. The items available includes both common and uncommon electronics parts such as resistors, capacitors, rectifiers, transistors, ICs, connectors, cable, and much more.

A computer is located in the store where the customers record their purchases on a custom Point of Sale system. While the store operates via the honor system, there is both a security camera as well as secure door access which records entry to the store. Principal Investigators wishing to utilize the Electronics Shop Parts Store will need to email a completed Stores Application Form (pdf) to spayne@physics.tamu.edu or send via fax to 979.845.2590.
